Heimdall Suite 1.1.1 Released

Version 1.1.1 of the Heimdall Suite was just recently released. The changes are fairly minor, unless you own a Galaxy Tab there is no need to upgrade immediately. However, installation, compilation and packaging has been greatly simplified with this release.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed modem flashes for Galaxy Tab i.e. Reverted from the “Kies method” back to the “Odin method” of flashing modem files.

System Support Changes:

  • OS X binaries are now universal. Intel 32-bit, Intel/AMD 64-bit and PowerPC are all supported.

Installation Changes:

  • The OS X package should now include Qt 4.7.1.
  • Debian packages now install binaries to /usr/bin as opposed to /usr/local/bin.
  • Debian packages now take care of udev rules in a more standard complaint fashion.

Compilation Changes:

  • Heimdall Frontend can now be installed to any location by using “qmake OUTPUTDIR=/desired/output/dir”.
  • On Linux running “make install” for Heimdall command line tool will now install the udev rules.

I have just installed in in my Mac – which is up-to-date – but the heimdall-frontend app is crashing on startup.

I can send you the crash log.

Thank you so much! May I know if it supports firmware files which should be used with Odin 1.7?

Brazilian Joe (and other OS X users who experience a crash with Heimdall Frontend), there is an issue on OS X whereby Qt is not being detected even though it is included as a private framework. A user has proposed a work-around here.

jiehanzheng, Heimdall should be compatible with any firmware that your phone is compatible with. However Odin firmware releases tend to be packed in a tar archive. All you need to do is extract this archive so that you can flash the individual files from Heimdall Frontend or Heimdall command line tool.
